New Year, new blog... sort of.

It always seems that with each New Year, come new intentions. This year, I intend on filling my life with the things that I love. Music being one of the biggest, I figured it was just the right time to resurrect this blog I started a few years ago.

The goal of Whyte Noise is to showcase what is happening right in our own backyard, musically. After I had written my first post, I quickly discovered that I was oblivious as to what was, in fact, happening here. Clearly, I was in over my head.

I have spent the last two-ish years since the original post slowly discovering new music – that is local. Some of it by accident, some by recommendation and some by near coincidence that I know a guy who knows a guy, who’s sister’s cousin is in a band. Either way, Edmonton has an abundance of talent.

By no means do I believe that I can capture it all, but by trying and listening, what is there to lose?

Christian Hansen & The Autistics

To say that I have a crush on this band does not give an adequate adaptation of how I really feel.

Edmonton's own happening breakout party band, Christian Hansen & The Autistics, have just released a new EP, titled "Swans". (available at Blackbyrd Myoozik) I wouldn't say it differs from their 2009 release "Power Leopard", because I think both discs have shared an equally heavy rotation in my headphones - though, with "Swans", just as you progress from toe-tapping, to hip swaying, to an all out swing interpretation in your kitchen - it's over! Here's hoping a full length release is in the near future for Christian, Molly, Scott and Ava. (Pssst... maybe in time for a 2011Polaris Nomination? *crosses fingers*)

I've heard nothing but amazing things about their high energy live shows. I will finally get the chance to see for myself! August 8th, @ On The Rocks

You should go!

Until then, look them up on facebook, twitter, and of course, their myspace for a sample of the awesome!
